‘Stretched’ is perhaps the longest single-syllable word in the language. The hearth is in an Irish cottage, common until 50 years ago. Yeats’ portrair was by Stephen McGrogan The painting of a Sleeping Cat, 1862, was by Pierre-Auguste Renoir I A speckled cat and a tame hare Eat at my hearthstone And sleep there; And both look up to me alone For learning and defence As I look up to Providence. I start out of my sleep to think Some day I may forget Their food and drink; Or, the house door left unshut, The hare may run till it’s found The horn’s sweet note and the tooth of the hound. I bear a burden that might well try Men that do all by rule, And what can I That am a wandering witted fool But pray to God that He ease My great responsibilities? II I slept on my three-legged stool by the fire, The speckled cat slept on my knee; We never thought to enquire Where the brown hare might be, And whether the door were shut. Who knows how she drank the wind Stretched up on two legs from the mat, Before she had settled her mind To drum with her heel and to leap: Had I but awakened from sleep And called her name she had heard, It may be, and had not stirred, That now, it may be, has found The horn’s sweet note and the tooth of the hound. Question by TS: Is this normal practice in a daycare setting?
I am expected to keep (6) 1 yr olds in my daycare class quiet and immobile laying on a mat for one hour AFTER they have just woken up after a 2 hour nap because I am expected to float between 3 rooms (2 other rooms and my own room) to monitor 25 napping children. My 1 yr olds are IMPOSSIBLE to keep still on a mat after just waking from a 2 hr nap!!! If it was up to me I would take my kids one by one as they wake up to a section of the room with me, where they could play quietly with books and soft toys till the other children wake up.
But instead I am forced to TRY to keep them on their mats, laying down and not talking or moving because I cannot be in the room with them because I have to float between 3 rooms.
I just wondered, since I am new to this, if this is normal or in fact healthy to expect this of 1 yr olds that you cannot reason with about keeping still and quiet ESPECIALLY seeing as they have just napped for 2 hours? It is extremely stressful on both the children and myself to try to keep them laying there for yet another hour because I can’t be with them in my room.

Answer by Small Fry This sounds ridiculous!!! You can’t get 1 yr olds to do this unless maybe you are god and even then it would still be a challenge. How can you float supervising 25 children leaving the 1 yr olds alone? Isn’t that out of ratio? I agree with your idea of taking them to an area to play quietly. I have to sometimes take my kids outside if I have another teacher in my room and they are all preschool age. They understand the meaning of being quiet. Now whether they do it or not is another story. I guess the best thing to do would be to talk to the director and see what you can do. I am little confused on how they are able to make you supervise so many children in different rooms at the same time while maintaining ratio and not leaving children alone. Those wouldn’t be good practices.
Question by Twitchard: How would a Mormon say about Mat. 16:18?
“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church;”
My Mormon friend was talking to me the other day about how Mormons believe that they are the one true church because Joseph Smith heard directly from God, and that all the denominations at the time had lost the character of the true church.
Since JS heard directly from God, the Mormon church didn’t split off from the Catholic church (which Peter started) like the rest of the denominations…
Do Mormons have an explanation around this or is there a problem with my logic? My Mormon friend had an explanation for just about everything else but I don’t think she understood this question and I wasn’t being particularly clear…
Dr. Bob, why did Jesus say that on Peter (Greek petros) (‘this rock’) he would build his church? Sure the Church is built on Jesus Christ but Peter must have some special significance too if Jesus is telling him the church is built upon him.

Answer by Jana Allen Mormons believe that all denominations up to the time of Joey Smith had be perverted. So Peter, James and John.. among others.. restored the “true” gospel through our lil’ pal Joey.
I put this comforter in a large bag to take to the launder mat. It’s been in the bag for a year because the extra large machine seems to always be broken. Anyhow, Wasabi decided to climb down inside because it was a nice warm place to nap. Video Rating: 0 / 5

Question by mare: I found a huge key to possibly prove we dont have to keep the sabbath holy,?
Hbr 4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day . Look up the Greek words in the concordance and it may possibly read, For if Jesus himself rested, He would not afterwards spoke of another day. Go to Matt 11,Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls (see learning of Him, His person will give us rest)
.Hbr 4:4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh [day] on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. (that word “rest” is not sabbath rest, )
The next verse after Matt 11:30 in chapter 12 talk about the sabbath, and it talks about the “place”
Mat 12:6 But I say unto you, That in this place is [one] greater than the temple . Also Hebrew 4:4 talks about a placeHbr 4:4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh [day] on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
I believe another words its saying, the ways of Jesus will give you rest, or become holy as He is, we dont need a holy day we need a holy people. The people in the old test. didnt have the holy spirit or the ability to be holy as Jesus now we do. A few did, like David and Abraham and others, but not like today.
Rivky, even the old test. says love your neighbors as yourself….wow you really know how to hit someone who doesnt agree with you. You know I have been wrong before, and I will again in the future, what I am looking for is truth, and I believe this is truth. But I could be off somewhere, if not all of it….still studing
